Long weekend in Iceland

I booked this hotel because it was cheaper than those in Reykjavik. The staff were wonderful and very helpful. If you’re going to Iceland to travel around the country, then this hotel isn’t so bad as the tour coaches pick you up from your hotel anyway. The only negative aspect was my single room which was next to a busy fly over, I found it difficult to sleep the first night but was okay subsequent nights as I was so tired from my days travelling. The rest of the rooms were probably okay as they were on the other side of the hotel.

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Visit the blue lagoon on the way from the airport to save time. Iceland is a wonderful country and I will definitely be going back again for much longer!

The staff is helpful, friendly and very correct/accurate. The breakfast was good and very expanded. The hotel bar is cosy and pleasant.

(Het personeel is behulpzaam, vriendelijk en zeer correct. Het ontbijft was goed en heel uitgebreid. De bar in het hotel was knus en gezellig.)

"An excellent and comfortable accommodation!"
Hotel Smari provides everything you basically need as a tourist on a weekend tour, eventhough it's not in the city centre. We got excellent service (personal and private), everything is done for you. It is easy to take the local bus downtown Reykjavik (15min). The hotel has great rooms; clean and large. Excellent accommodation for that price! We strongly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants comfort, space and calm environment.

The hotel is clean and offers a friendly service. The rooms are adaquate, clean and offer a comfy bed. The location is great for catching a local bus or if you have a car to get onto the mains route very quickly. I would stay there again. If you require a hair dryer it must be asked for at reception
